Class Focus: This course emphasizes independent underwater exploration, water safety, and introducing the skills needed for beginning independent swimming.

Participants must meet the following skill prerequisites to enroll:

• Enter and exit the water unassisted by either walking down and up pool steps or, if no steps, sliding in on the stomach using hands on the wall and pulling out onto the belly.
• Shuffle along the wall unassisted by holding or sliding hands along it to move from one point to another without instructor help.
• Submerge fully underwater and blow bubbles independently by exhaling through the mouth and/or nose without instructor help.
