ADULT & PEDIATRIC CPR/FIRST AID TRAINING - BLENDED LEARNING
Class Overview
The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED blended learning course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants. The online portion features award-winning simulation learning – an interactive experience where you will respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting and practice the skills that will prepare you for the instructor-led classroom skill session. Allow 2 hours 45 minutes to complete the online portion if you are new to First Aid/CPR/AED training or 55 minutes if you have previously received certification. The online course must be completed prior to attending the classroom portion of blended learning.
For this class- the sooner you register the sooner you can do the on-line portion.
Cancellation/Transfer Policy
Transfers or refunds must be requested 6 business days prior to the start of the class. All refunds prior to those 5 business days will be subject to a $15.00 cancellation fee. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE WILL REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS BE GRANTED WITHIN 5 BUSINESS DAYS OF THE CLASS.
Class Objectives
1. Describe how to recognize an emergency and size up the scene.
2. Explain how to activate and work with the emergency medical services (EMS) system.
3. Understand legal concepts as they apply to lay responders, including consent and the purpose of Good Samaritan laws.
4. Identify how to reduce the risk of disease transmission when giving care.
5. Demonstrate how to check a person who is responsive for life-threatening and non-life-threatening conditions.
6. Recognize the signs and symptoms of a heart attack and describe appropriate first aid care for a person who is showing these signs and symptoms.
7. Demonstrate CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) for a person who is in cardiac arrest.
8. Recognize the signs and symptoms of, and describe appropriate first aid care for, the following sudden illnesses: breathing emergencies, diabetic emergencies, seizures, fainting and stroke.
9. Describe methods used to control external bleeding, including the application of direct pressure and the application of a commercial tourniquet.
10. Recognize the signs and symptoms of, and describe appropriate first aid care for, the following injuries: burns; muscle, bone and joint injuries; and head, neck and spinal injuries, including concussion.
11. Recognize the signs and symptoms of, and describe appropriate first aid care for, the following environmental injuries and illnesses: heat-related illnesses, cold-related illnesses and poisoning.
Certification Requirements:
- Complete all lessons of the online learning session and pass the online assessment with a score of at least 80 percent.
- Participate in all classroom activities.
- Demonstrate competency in all required skills.
- Successfully complete the final scenario test.
Certification Validity:
Certification Validity- Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED -2 year.
Length of Class:
Online Time- Allow 2 hours 45 minutes to complete the online portion if you are new to First Aid/CPR/AED training or 55 minutes if you have previously received certification - Facility Time-2hrs.
ONLINE BLENDED LEARNING PORTION
1. You will receive an email with the online session link upon registration for this class.
2. Must complete the online portion of the class prior to the day of the in-class session.
3. Please bring your certificate of achievement with you to the day of the in-class session.
