LIFEGUARD RECERTIFICATION - BLENDED LEARNING
The primary purpose of a recertification course is to give participants who are currently certified American Red Cross Lifeguarding the opportunity to review the course knowledge and skills within a formal course setting to maintain their American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification. Lifeguarding training is conducted and evaluated in water depths ranging from 3 to 13 feet. Candidates should be able to comfortably submerge in waters of at least 10 feet to take this course.
CANCELLATION POLICY
A $15 cancellation fee applies to all refunds or transfers. Requests for a refund or transfer within 5 days of the first class are prohibited.
PREREQUISITES
Must hold a current or recently expired American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification. Certifications that have expired must be within the past 30 days of the expiration date to be considered valid.
Successfully complete the two prerequisite swimming skills evaluations below:
Submerge, resurface, and swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or both. Back or side strokes are not allowed. Use goggles if needed. Then, tread water for 2 minutes using only your legs. Finally, swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or both.
Start in the water and swim 20 yards (goggles not allowed). Submerge to 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, and swim 20 yards on your back to return, holding the object with both hands and keeping your face near the surface. Exit the water without a ladder or steps.
CERTIFICATION
Participants who complete the Lifeguard Recertification course will receive a 2-year American Red Cross certificate in Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water), CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, and First Aid.
ONLINE CONTENT
The Lifeguarding course includes 16 online modules, which take approximately 6 hours to complete in total. Each module typically takes between 15 to 30 minutes. You can access all online content through your confirmation receipt after enrollment.
